At Luiss we are convinced that universities are places where students should learn how to build their own tool kit, with a set of skills, abilities, knowledge that may enable them to solve problems but also, and most importantly, that may allow them to recognize and work out new problems sorting out innovative solutions. Hence the need to focus on the interaction between questions and answers, that is between “Ars interrogandi” and “Ars responsendi”, in the light of the Generative AI which gives immediate keys and responses: raising proper issues is a first, important step to handle such tools.
With Francesco Giorgino as facilitator, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi and Professor Ivano Dionigi have offered different yet coherent perspectives on Ars interrogandi and Ars respondendi. While Professor Dionigi focused on the importance of time and overall view offered by the humanities, Cardinal Ravasi has based on the of paradox of dialectic – we cannot answer every questions – highlighting the importance of clearness in listening and answering to respond, explain and act properly. Professor Simona Romani has mentioned Luiss’ experience, from the enquiry-based educational model to the Luiss Children project on educational poverty, to emphasize the active role of instructors throughout the educational supply chain.
As Francesco Giorgino has suggested, we do wish to gather again to discuss about “Ars interpretandi”.
